Workplace Fatalities

A N G E L O ' S  S P O R T S  C E N T E R

In one of last year's newsletters I told about Carmen, a 40 year old woman who lost her partner Angelo due to a workplace incident few years ago (Angelo never saw their second child who was yet to be born when the accident happened). On May 1st 2023, International Workers Day, the municipality of Opera dedicated a sports center to Angelo; Carmen had presented such proposal in 2022 (supported by a local sports association running the center) and in spring 2023 the municipality council approved the request "unanimously".

One month later Carmen and her friends organized the second football tournament "Amici di Angelo" ("Angelo's Friends") at the newly named center.

Torre Velasca

While on an assignment recently at the rooftop of a skyscraper in the center of Milan, I seized the opportunity to take few quick shots of Torre Velasca (Velasca Tower). The building is one of Milan's distinctive landmarks; it was designed by Studio BBPR and built in the 50s, and as can be seen, it represents brutalist architecture.

Unsurprisingly, the tastes change during one's life; in my twenties I definitely wouldn't have been very interested in buildings representing this style, but now I would definitely love spending my time photographing such buildings and spaces often.

Let's be in touch soon! A presto! Ollaan pian yhteydessä!
